Nomenclature at Culture πŸ“–

A quick reference glossary of the bioprocessing terms we use at Culture:

  • Run: an an individual fermentation or cell culture process using one vessel.

  • Experiment: a set of bioreactor runs done in parallel at a given time (formerly β€œbatch”).

  • Project: a grouping of Experiments. We recommend dividing your research campaigns into separate Projects.

  • Account: a single login that can access information within an Organization

  • Organization: an umbrella entity that contains Accounts, Projects, Experiments and Runs

Culture's Systems

  • Bioprocessing Console: the website where Culture's customers can plan new Runs, monitor current Experiments and analyze their data

  • Chemical: a conceptual entity with chemical formula, hazards and more -- note that this does not connote any information regarding physical inventory, it only conveys that Culture's system is aware of these Chemicals

  • Media: a composition of Chemicals including a protocol for creating this Media

  • Inventory: connecting concepts of Chemicals with physical status, Lot, Vendor, preparation information and barcoding

  • Vessel: our single use plastic container for the culture broth

  • Bay: Culture's bioreactors, consistent sets of hardware, pumps and control subsystems
