Overview of Autofiller Components
Syringe Pack Holder
The holder aligns and clamps the syringe pack securely into the autofiller during operation.
To insert a syringe pack, slide the part in with the embossed letters (A-E) facing out towards you. Hooking your fingers behind the black wings on either side of the holder, press firmly against the syringe pack using your thumbs. The blue hooks will drop down and a loud click will confirm the holder is locked in place.
To remove a syringe pack, press down on the rounded blue levers one after another, while holding the syringe pack with your other hand to prevent it from falling out of the holder. The lever should click into place in the open position. Always ensure the 5-line clamp is closed to prevent any accidental fluid dispensing during the removal process.
5-line Clamp
This multi-line tube clamp allows all five fluid lines to be simultaneously closed or opened. Always close the clamp when transporting the syringe pack to protect against accidental fluid dispensing. To close the clamp, it is recommended to apply firm pressure using both thumbs, as the force to clamp all 5 lines together can be large.
Manifold Clamping Tool and Lever
The clamping tool helps to align the two halves of the fluid manifold that joins the syringes and source bottles. The tool ensures connections can be securely opened and closed without risking sterility. To close the manifold, raise the lever while bracing with a few fingers on the top of the tool or the top right corner of the autofiller enclosure. To open the manifold, press down on the lever, bracing with a thumb against the bottom of the clamping tool. There should be a tactile click at the closed end of the clamping tool travel to confirm the connection is made.
Barcode Scanner
A barcode scanner is embedded inside the autofiller and scans through a window on the right face of the system. Scanning your consumables allows you to link them to the run and bioreactor, ensuring the right media and nutrients are paired with the intended process parameters to be run (e.g. during large DOE studies or media screening).
Hold the QR code 6-9 inches from the side of the autofiller when scanning, and look for the red alignment pattern. An audible beep will confirm a successful scan.
Tube Organizer
Once tubing is attached to bottles and the manifold, you can weave them through the flanges of the tube organizer to hold them out of the way of the barcode scanner and manifold lever while you work.
Diptube Cap
The autofiller dip tube caps can accommodate bottles from 250mL up to 2L in size. The glass sinker and reverse tweezers attached to the internal tubing allow for easy maneuvering into your source bottle. On top, a fixed length of tubing connects to the autofiller-side of the fluid manifold, and includes a white tubing clamp. The plastic wings on the cap can also double as a slide-in tube clamp and tube organizing feature. The cap is designed to fit GL-45 threaded labware, but can also rest on top of smaller and larger threaded bottles for filling inside a BSC.
