Introduction to Console

Learn more about Culture’s cloud-based software platform.

Updated over 4 months ago

Console is Culture’s cloud-based software platform, equipped with a comprehensive suite of tools that enable users to efficiently plan, monitor, and analyze experiments within Culture bioreactors.

An overview of the end-to-end experiment workflow managed within Console is as follows:

  1. Create a Script using the Script Visual Editor.

  2. Create an Experiment Plan based on the Script.

  3. Monitor the experiment in real-time using the Experiment Dashboard.

  4. Use the Checklist for step-by-step guidance throughout the experiment.

  5. Record sample and addition data in the Analytical Data Entry page

  6. Adjust process controls through Live Controls as needed.

  7. Compare and analyze experiment data over time in Workspaces.

Console Feature Overview

Planning Experiments in Console

The Script Visual Editor (SVE) is an intuitive tool that allows users to create, edit, and finalize the sequence of steps the bioreactor(s) will follow once the experiment is started. Within the interface, users can drag and drop, rearrange, and connect functions on the editor’s Script canvas to easily define the experimental process starting with enabling control of key parameters through to the desired feeding strategy. Creating a Script is the first step towards designing an experiment, and a published Script is required before an Experiment Plan can be finalized.

The Experiment Plan allows users to specify the details of each new experiment, such as the number of experimental runs, the media and feed used, and the value of any In-Script Variables, commonly associated with key process parameters. While a single published Script may be used across multiple different Experiment Plans, a unique Experiment Plan is required for each new experiment. Experiment Plan is the last step towards designing an experiment, and a published Experiment Plan is required before the Run(s) may be assigned to Bay(s).

Monitoring Experiments in Console

After an Experiment Plan is published and the Run(s) have been assigned to Bay(s), the user will gain access to the Experiment Dashboard, which provides an overview of the health and progress of the experiment while also linking the user to several relevant pages. The Experiment Dashboard acts as the go-to place to monitor and troubleshoot live experiments.

After an Experiment Plan is published and the Run(s) have been assigned to Bay(s), the user will gain access to the Experiment Checklist from the Experiment Dashboard. The Experiment Checklist is designed to provide guidance and support to users as they set up, monitor, and clean-up experiment Runs.

Analytical Data Entry provides a dedicated workspace for recording key sample and addition data throughout the course of the experiment. Data entered in the Analytical Data Entry page may be plotted and exported from Workspaces, used to send pH calibrations, and used to assign values to In-Process Variables within the Script.

Live Controls allows users to make real-time, ad-hoc adjustments to the bioreactor process during an active experiment run. This feature may be used to override control setpoints, enable or disable process controls, or issue unscripted pumping commands.

Analyzing Experiments in Console

Workspaces offers a customizable view of key experimental process data over time. Whether monitoring live experiments or analyzing post-completion data, users can plot key process setpoints, rates, and measurement values over specified time ranges, comparing data across Runs within the same experiment or across different experiments.
